Assembly Sponsors

Deputy Majority Leader, Thomas P. Giblin, the first prime sponsor of Monica’s Law, has been a tireless advocate for families in need.  When he read about a house fire in his community around the holidays he organized a toy and clothing drive.  When he learned about a teenage boy suffering from cancer, whose family could not afford medical treatment, he arranged a benefit to raise money.  When the Paul family approached Assemblyman Giblin and asked him to draft legislation in order to help prevent a tragedy like this from happening again, he was eager to take action.  Protecting families has always been a priority for the Assemblyman.  If you have questions or comments about Monica’s Law or are a constituent in need of help, the Assemblyman encourages you to contact his office.  His phone number is 973-779-3125, his e-mail address is [email protected], and his office is located at 1333 Broad Street Clifton, New Jersey 07013.

Senator-elect Linda R. Greenstein is the second prime sponsor of Monica’s Law.  As a former prosecutor, Senator-elect Greenstein knows how difficult life can be for victims of domestic violence.  In the State Legislature, and in her capacity as chairwoman of the Assembly Judiciary Committee, she has championed numerous pieces of legislation to both toughen penalties for domestic violence offenders as well as make circumstances easier for domestic violence victims.  In furthering these goals, Senator-elect Greenstein has worked with the Attorney General’s Office, the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Governor’s Division on Women, and other organizations.  The senator-elect may be reached at (609) 395-9911 or at [email protected], and her office is located at 7 Centre Drive, Suite 2, Monroe, New Jersey 08831.

From New Jersey Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver:
“I have been an advocate on behalf of those who are negatively impacted by social and economic conditions and other circumstances that are often outside of their control.  I know that our hearts break collectively whenever we hear about the tragic results stemming from domestic violence, but it spurs us to work even harder than ever to make necessary changes that will save lives.  As a co-prime sponsor of Monica’s Law, I am committed to fighting for these changes so we can better protect our women and our children.  I believe that it is only right and fitting for all of us to come together as one voice to speak on behalf of Monica Paul and all the other women who are no longer with us.”
